Talakaveri Coorg Overview

Talakaveri, also known as Talacauvery, is a famous tourist destination in Coorg. It is located on the Brahma Giri hill, about 8 km from Bhagamandala and 48 km from Madikeri. It is essential for religion, so it draws many religious tourists.

Talakaveri is believed to be where the River Cauvery begins in Coorg. The source of the water flow is not always easy to see. You can see this during the wet season. Hindu texts mention the River Cauvery as one of the seven holy rivers known as Sapta Sindhus.

At a height of 1276 meters above sea level, there is a small temple that many people visit. The state government has recently restored the temple here.

There is a small spring known as tirtha kundike or Brahma kundike. It is thought that the river comes from this spring. This spring flows underground for a bit and then rises to the surface. There is a shrine near the Kundike. In front of the shrine is a large tank where visitors can bathe and say their blessings.

On Tula Sankramana day, which usually falls on October 17th each year, thousands come to Talacauvery to watch a sudden upsurge of water in the spring, which then bubbles over. Next to the temple is Brahma Giri hill, where you can see great views of the mountains.

By Road

•    From Madikeri: Talakaveri is about 48 km away from Madikeri, which is the district seat of Coorg.

•    You can take a cab or drive through Bhagamandala.

•    To get there from Bangalore, Talakaveri is about 310 km away. Mysore, Hunsur, and Madikeri are all stops on the way. You can take a bus.

•    From Mysore: It's around 160 km away. In between Hunsur, Kushalnagar, and Madikeri, the path goes.

By Bus

•    From Bangalore, Mysore, and Mangalore, you can take a KSRTC bus or a private bus to get to Madikeri.

•    It is possible to get to Talakaveri from Madikeri by local buses or cabs.

By Train

•    The first train stop is 160 km away in Mysore. You can take a bus or cab to Coorg from there and then go to Talakaveri.

•    Another choice is Mangalore Railway Station, which is 140 km away.

By Air

•    Mangalore International Airport is the closest airport, 160 km away. You can then take a cab through Madikeri to get to Talakaveri.

•    People coming from other places can also use Bangalore's Kempegowda International Airport, which is 320 km away.
